UUCLC Marches in the Leesburg MLK Jr. Parade

It was very cold on Saturday morning January 20, but nine stalwart
UUCLC marchers turned out to walk in the annual Leesburg parade to
commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to civil
rights.     We were a colorful group, as we carried several Black Lives
Matter flags and some Pride flags and an American flag.    We also had
colorful Mardi Gras bead necklaces to give away to the children along the
route (thank you to Sandy Davenhall for donating the necklaces).    We had a
great time, and gathered lots of smiles from the spectators.    After the
parade we warmed up with a soup and sandwich lunch at Karen Woolhouse’s home.

We received a wonderful Thank you email from the organizers of the parade that read in part “The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Committee would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for your active participation in the 2024 Parade Celebration. Your presence and enthusiasm added to the vibrancy and spirit of the event, making it a memorable occasion for all who attended. Your efforts and support have been instrumental in our success, and we cannot thank you enough for your significant contributions. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”
Our next parade will be Saturday February 17 in Eustis to honor African
American Heritage Day.    Please join us!
