Dr. Michael Scheibach will present the program as part of the Beacon College Salon Series on October 5 at Venetian Gardens in Leesburg
“From the early republic to today, Supreme Court decisions have profoundly shaped American life. In this timely, thought‑provoking lecture, Dr. Michael Scheibach examines landmark cases that transformed the nation’s legal, political, and social landscape. Beginning in the 19th century and moving forward, he explores rulings such as Dred Scott v. Sandford, Plessy v. Ferguson, Korematsu v. United States, and Bush v. Gore, placing each in historical context. Scheibach also discusses contemporary decisions, including the 2022 ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, to show how constitutional interpretation evolves and sparks debate. With clarity and insight, he explains why these rulings mattered, how they affected everyday Americans, and what they reveal about the Court’s enduring influence on democracy.”
