Katie Culbert’s topic will be “Empathetic Curiosity.”   Psychologist Carl Rogers described empathy as “seeing the world through the eyes of the other, not seeing your world reflected in their eyes.” When someone comes to us with personal struggles, do we jump into fixing mode, hoping our thoughts & experiences will help them? When we are faced with a different worldview do we make assumptions & become defensive?  How can sitting and listening with curiosity, holding the sacred stories of others, help heal our friends, family & community?
