Plastic Recycling Challenge Trout Lake Nature Center
Trout Lake Nature Center is continuing their soft plastic recycling campaign to earn another bench for TLNC. They have received one bench by recycling 1,000 pounds of soft plastic through the NexTrex program. According to NexTrex, this is equivalent to recycling 94,000 plastic bags.
Please bring the following plastic recyclable items to UUCLC to assist TLNC in earning another bench and in reducing plastic pollution. In the UUCLC kitchen, there is a designated blue recycling bin for your plastic contributions. Each time this bin fills, our plastics will be taken to TLNC.
The following types of plastic (if dry, clean and free of food residue) can be recycled:
- Grocery bags
- Bread bags
- Bubble wrap
- Dry cleaning bags
- Newspaper sleeves
- Ice bags
- Plastic shipping envelopes
- Ziploc or other closeable food storage bags
- Cereal bags
- Case overwrap (like used for water bottle cases)
- Salt bags
- Pallet wrap or stretch film
- Wood pellet bags
- Produce bags
