“UUs Coming Out!”   

National Coming Out Day is to celebrate those who are willing and able to come out of the closet. This morning we’ll be exploring the UU history of coming out in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. It has been an uneven and challenging journey, and we have work yet to do.

Finance Committee oversees the finances of the Congregation.  Its goals are to support the Treasurer, to increase income through pledging and fundraising, to decrease outgo through fund saving, to develop the annual budget, and to educate the Congregation on its financial processes and status.

The UUCLC’s Social Justice and Environment Committee will host this sign-waving event.  It will be held in front of United Southern Bank at the corner of Bay Street and Old Mount Dora Road in Eustis.  There is plenty of parking and shade there.  Please wear your Side with Love shirt or a yellow shirt.  Also, protect yourself from the sun and heat with sunscreen, sun glasses, a hat, and water bottles.  You may want to bring a lawn chair.

We will wave signs that encourage early voting and which support voting for the Lake County “Salary and School Safety Referendum.”

Following the first Sunday Service each month (approximately 12:45 PM), the Hospitality Committee will sponsor a congregational potluck.  Bring some food to share and enjoy sampling what others have brought!  All are welcome for this social event.  (Join us anyway, even if you didn’t bring food!)  Held in the Social Hall.

Some of the most influential writers and thinkers of the 19th century were Unitarians.  They led a new movement called Transcendentalism, and their values were very consistent with ours as Unitarian Universalists.  Come to celebrate freedom of thought, literature, creativity, simplicity, social justice and connecting with nature.  More details to come!
