In-Person UUCLC Tai Chi class every Monday, December through April, in the UUCLC parking lot.  We will be learning Tai Chi for Arthritis, which was adapted by Dr. Paul Lam from the ancient Sun style tai chi. It is gentle, slow-motion martial arts movements done smoothly and mindfully. The class will be taught by Chris Cleveland, who has been trained by one of Dr. Lam’s master instructors. Tai chi has been shown to increase one’s immunity.  Open to all.

Communications Committee

Meets Third Tuesday of every month.  The Communications Committee runs the UUCLC Facebook page and places ads as well as articles on our special events in the Orlando Sentinel and other local publications. This committee also oversees the UUCLC website. If you like to write, work on the computer, or take photos, the Communications Committee needs you!

Social Justice and Environment Committee

The Mission of the SJE Committee is to support congregation members and local groups in working toward a more just community socially, economically, and environmentally.  The vision of the Committee is to be a known, trusted, and effective ally within our congregation and our community in making a positive difference. Tai Chi

In-Person UUCLC Tai Chi class every Monday, December through April, in the UUCLC parking lot.  We will be learning Tai Chi for Arthritis, which was adapted by Dr. Paul Lam from the ancient Sun style tai chi. It is gentle, slow-motion martial arts movements done smoothly and mindfully. The class will be taught by Chris Cleveland, who has been trained by one of Dr. Lam’s master instructors. Tai chi has been shown to increase one’s immunity.  Open to all.

Membership Committee

The Membership committee members welcome newcomers and encourage them to sign our “visitor’s sheet.”  They are prepared to answer any questions that visitors have about membership and the procedure for joining.  If the visitors choose to become members, the committee will set up an orientation session, after which they may choose to sign our official membership book.  The committee also plans two new member induction ceremonies a year, which are held during the Celebration of Life service on Sunday morning.

Do you have questions or fears about what is happening to your body and mind as you age?  Do you have trouble finding your keys that were just in your hand a few minutes ago?  Do you ever wonder, “What did I come here after?”  You aren’t alone!   If you have these concerns and others, you might enjoy the UUCLC Graceful Aging discussion group.  This is a thoughtful conversation group, conducted by and for members and friends of UUCLC.  It is an open group, which means folks are free to come and go as they wish. The drift of each meeting emerges from the concerns of those present.

The Safe Congregation Committee, meeting monthly on the first Tuesday via Zoom, is an umbrella committee whose purpose is to develop policies and procedures related to the emotional and physical well-being of our congregation. The committee will work in conjunction with other committees such as the Building and Grounds (safety team), Education and Social Justice.

Finance Committee oversees the finances of the Congregation.  Its goals are to support the Treasurer, to increase income through pledging and fundraising, to decrease outgo through fund saving, to develop the annual budget, and to educate the Congregation on its financial processes and status.
