Chronic pain is defined as “pain that lingers after an injury or surgery has healed or as a result of the aging process.” This type of pain is experienced daily or nearly daily and can impact quality of life for you and those around you. And yes, pain is “all in your head” but that is actually good news because it means that you can change your pain experience by learning how it works in the nervous system, how mental and emotional factors affect pain, as well as techniques to help you live better with it.
This class is not meant to replace medical treatment that you may be receiving or may seek in the future, but it can be helpful in addition to traditional treatment.
This class is offered by Janeane Reagan, a retired psychologist who worked in conjunction with pain clinics in both Ohio and Florida for many years.
The 6-week class will start on Monday, May 1 at 10:30 in the UUCLC classroom. It is scheduled for May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, June 5. All materials will be provided but bringing pen and paper for notes is a good idea. There will be material to read and complete for classes 2-6. Class size is limited to 12. Sign up in the narthex.
