After the church service October 4th help us make signs for the October 17th Sign-Waving event in Eustis! There will be a table set up for sign-making in the narthex after people start eating pot luck. Then, as soon as a table is clear in the Social Hall, people can work there, too.

Social Justice and Environment Committee (SJEC) will present its fifth annual holiday reuse event, the Bring and Buy, on Sundays November 29 and December 6. This initiative aims to help preserve the planet by reducing the amount of waste which goes into landfills and pollutes the environment. The UUCLC community brings in giftable items in like new condition that they no longer want. People browse the collection of giftable items and select ones that they can use for their holiday gift list, and make the donation of their choice to SJEC’s social justice and environmental projects. It is the major fundraiser of the year for SJEC, as well as an environment preservation activity and a lot of fun.
Please start looking for giftable items which you no longer want and are willing to donate. We will accept the donations starting November 22. Thanks for your help.
UUCLC has been a supporter of the Trout Lake Nature Center for many years. Trout Lake’s main fundraiser is the annual Jungle Fest, which will be held on Thursday, October 8th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at TLNC, 520 East CR 44, Eustis. Many animals will be on hand for you to observe and maybe touch. The event features a silent auction and refreshments. Tickets purchased by September 15, 2026 are $99 each. Trout Lake Nature Center is continuing their soft plastic recycling campaign to earn another bench for TLNC. They have received one bench by recycling 1,000 pounds of soft plastic through the NexTrex program. According to NexTrex, this is equivalent to recycling 94,000 plastic bags.
Please bring the following plastic recyclable items to UUCLC to assist TLNC in earning another bench and in reducing plastic pollution. In the UUCLC kitchen, there is a designated blue recycling bin for your plastic contributions. Each time this bin fills, our plastics will be taken to TLNC.

All people, regardless of status, have the right to safety and shelter during a disaster
We know that our communities are resilient, but they should not be expected to weather these storms alone. Climate disasters are escalating. Public resources are shrinking. And immigrant farmworker families are often ignored.
